Unique Storage

When shopping, I love finding something that you don't even know you need.  This happened to me the other day while looking for a wine glass rack at The Container Store. I saw this on an end cap:

My first thought: "OMG - I used to have one of those that all my stuffed animals hung on.  I also had a stuffed animal hammock."  My second thought: "I wonder what happened to all those stuffed animals?"  Finally, my third thought: "OMG - I can use this to hang my pillows!!"

And here is the result of that awesome thought process:

It is fun looking, bright, and it clears up space on my shelf for more material.

What do you think?

Stair Storage

With our family expanding in about two months, my mind has shifted to storage. Our 1953 one and a half story home doesn't really have a ton of storage. I have tried to make the best of the space we have, but it's obvious that we need more storage space.

Currently, there is one little closet in our hallway that has become the catch all for everything. Here he is....

The top shelve houses the tables linens (white box), and bathroom/kitchen extras. (TP, paper towels, cloth napkins, cotton balls, q-tips.)

The second shelf from the top keeps all of our "good towels". Meaning nice enougth for our house guests.

The third shelf has the honor of storing our "other towels". Good enough for Jeff and I, but not good enough for our guests. (think: clean-up, Max bath towels, beach towels).

The fourth shelf holds two bins. One is our in home pharmacy (advil, itch relieft, band-aids, etc.). The other is the home salon (hairspray, curling iron, fingernail polish, etc.)

The bottom shelf is dedicated to mostly to Max. But there are some misc boxes as well.

The trouble with the current set-up is that there are several items that could easily be moved into a less-accessible location (read: the basement). Thus making space for more important stuff (read: baby stuff). We don't need to have our entire stock of paper towels on hand all the time and Max's bath towels could stand to be separated from the rest.

I headed to pinterest to find some stylish storage solutions and it didn't disappoint. I have decided (Jeff I hope you are reading this!) that I want to build some storage cabinets under our basement stairs.

Here is what I found on Pinterest!

I'll keep you posted as to our progress.
Do you think we can get it done within the next 10 weeks?

Storage

Since my Etsy store is really taking off, and by taking off I mean I have had 11 sales {which is about 11 more then I thought I would get...}, I need somewhere to store all my fabric and Pillows.

I think that I got the fabric taken care of - and really the before just looked like Joann's threw up in my craft/sewing room, so you get the picture.  But here is the after:

It is just your standard Expedit book shelf.  I removed {okay maybe it broke a while ago} on shelf so I could store my taller fabric bolts in.  The cardboard is literally from Joann's.  I was in there at the cutting counter {where they all must know my name by now} and they were piling all of the old cardboard pieces into a container, and I asked what they did with it.  They said they just send compress it and send it to the recycling center and I could have some if I wanted.  I wanted.

I then cut smaller pieces of cardboard for the smaller fabric.  The scrap fabric fits into the pink baskets.  It is still a work in progress for the essential, not none cute things {ie the ironing board and my glue gun}, but I will figure that out.

Where I need your help is on pillow storage.  I have all these pillows that are needing storage.

While they look pretty on my pretty rug, they get in the way there...  Currently I have them on a shelf.  It seems to work great to roll them up, so I was considering some sort of PVC pipe storage like below:

But I am not sold on it. I was also thinking a wine rack would be cool...yeah?

So, you can see... I need help! How would you store your stuff? Any good organization tips for me?
