Wonder Wall

As I gaze at our basement wall, I feel a unexplicable urge to change it. It's currently painted a brown-ish color, along with the other walls. I want to do something different. Some kind of installation. Here are some of my favorite ideas. (p.s. I am sorry in advance for getting this song in your head, but I am currently humming Wonderwall by Oasis).

To be honest, I don't think I could really do this one in my home. However, I think it's really pretty and lovely...and if I was a bit more "girly" I would do it!

This idea is so smart!
You could pick up lots of books at Goodwill and/or Garage Sales and then just go to town.

I think any one of these ideas is genius and would give our basement that spark that is missing.
Any one of these ideas would also be a lot of work. Which do you guys like best?

More Original Art

I mentioned a little while back that Jeff and I are trying to bring more original art into our homes. We might not have the bank-roll to buy the expensive stuff, but we DO have the tenacity to find great stuff that doesn't cost an arm and a leg.

The other weekend we made our way to Northeast Minneapolis for the Art-A-Whirl Studio Tour. I totally regret not bringing my camera, as there was some absolutely amazing artwork.

One of our first stops was Art Crank. My husband is an avid biker and spotted this studio on one of his biking websites. They had tons of really great biking related posters that were both nice to look at and clever. We ended up purchasing a poster from artist Adam Turnman. If you live in the twin cities area, or live elsewhere and originate from the TC, you should definitely check out his artwork. There are so many familiar landmarks in his screenprints. We love the bright colors and the memories that come to mind everytime we look at our print.

sorry about the glare...

One of the other studios that we just happened upon was Old Tom Foolery. The company is a husband and wife team, based in Minneapolis. They have absolutely hilarious greeting cards. I don't know them, but based on their cards....I want to be their friends. You have got to check out there site.  I'm pretty sure we will be getting some Christmas cards from them this year.

Also, given my current pregnant condition, I found these cards especially hilarious. You might find them offensive....I find them really, really, funny!

More from Across the Pond - Made.com

My sister sent me a link to a super cute store the other week. I just had to share. The shop is called Made.com. (maybe I am late to the game, but I have never heard of it before). The moto is "beautiful furniture without the high street mark up".

**If you are at work - please be warned that there are random naked ladies "modeling" the furniture (all bits & pieces are covered).

I love some of the stuff they are offering. Wish they would ship to the states!

One of the coolest thing I found on the site is the Vote page. They let their customers vote on what should actually make the cut and be produced. Genius, if you think about it. I went ahead and voted (even though it required you to give them your email). I wanted to feel like I was part of the process :)

Kitchen Inspiration

Now that the kitchen is finished (Woot Woot! - Put the finishing touches on her last night) I can share some inspiration with you.

Can you kind of see a pattern.  I will give away one tidbit. I did not get a farmhouse sink.  I really wanted one, but without getting all new cabinets it would not have been possible. But - I am super excited about what I did get.

Look for final kitchen pictures next week :)

Any of you re-doing your kitchen current?
