DIY Art...someone hold me to this please :)

Is anyone else out there pinning? I am - and I am in love with it.  One of my Pin Boards is called DIY art. I have been collecting ideas for different art projects that I can make for cheap.  Below are a few of them:

So - since collecting all of the above and many more - I have done nothing!!! My goal is to do at least 2 of these pieces of art this summer.  Have any of you actually recreated something that you saw on Pinterest? Or that you saw elsewhere? Please share... I would love you see your pictures, and get inspiration from you!

*All pictures are via my Pinterest (where it will give credit to the source)

(Almost) Wordless Wednesday

Easy idea for Thanksgiving centerpieces. If only the snow hadn't ruined all our fall leaves.

Wallpaper as Ceiling Art

Jeff and I just returned home from a visit to Austin, TX where we went to the Austin City Limits Music Festival. We had the pleasure of staying at our friend Kim’s parent’s home while we were there. Their home was absolutely beautiful. From custom painted cabinets, to warm, grooved mesquite wood floors, every detail was lovely. And the views from the deck were breathtaking!
One of my favorite details was the ceiling of the Dining Room. Here is a quick pic of the dining area.

Now take a closer look at the ceiling.....

The ceiling looks like those wonderful tin ceilings tiles that you find in buildings from the turn of the century.....but it’s not! The ceiling is wallpaper, painted with metallic paint. Brilliant idea and so gorgeous!
I am currently looking at all the ceilings in our home, trying to determine which one needs some wallpaper :)
p.s. Thanks again,  Susan and Cam (and Kim) for hosting us while in Austin. We had such a great time, due in most part to your hospitality!

Frame it up

If you are a frequent shopper at thrift stores you know the huge selection of pictures in frames that you can find.  Usually the picture is hideous, but the frames can be really cool.  So what can you do? The answer is anything.  Hang just the frame; collect a few really cool frames, paint them all the same color, then hang them up.  For even more fun – paint them something bright!

Use chicken wire and clips to display pictures that you can change out more frequently...

You use your jewelry as art for your outfit -  why not use it as art for your walls when you aren't wearing it!

Have some really cool paper or fabric? Why not use that as art..

There are endless possibilities of what you can do with a cool frame, a little paint, and your imagination!
