Map as Art

Recently, Nate and I were looking for new art for our living room.  We didn't want to spend much money (as usual), so we opted for something a unusual: A map.
We got it for less than $20 from here.

We then added a chunky wood frame {and by frame, I mean pieces of 1x4 stained and screwed together} and a piece of cardboard for the backing.

For a fun, personal touch, we started tracking everywhere that we had traveled - color coded - 1 for just Nate, 1 color for just me, and a third color for where the two of us have traveled together. (This is where the cardboard backing came in handy - you could also use cork)

The final look is a nice, large piece of art:

What do you think?
